Position Title - Process Engineer - paperboard plant
Location - St Johnsbury, VT
Our client is a multi-plant manufacturer of Electrical Insulation for the global transformer industry offering a class-leading range of paper insulation products, ranging from flat untreated paper to technically advanced Engineered Papers, up to high temperature synthetic papers. They also provide a wide range of other transformer-related products and production machinery covering the fields of transformer cores, production machinery, test field equipment, transformer wheels and wire products.
The Vermont Facility focuses on the manufacturing of specialty paperboard for their internal transformer business
The Process Engineer is a new position and is designed to provide engineering and technical expertise for this facility in order to continuously improve plant safety, quality and productivity. Position reports to the Plant Technical Manager
Guide efforts in support of manufacturing productivity with process troubleshooting, quality improvements and training.
Collect and analyze data, monitor key variables, document findings in report form.
Lead process-engineering and continuous improvement support for new and existing products.
Provide on-call technical support for the St Johnsbury paper manufacturing facility and assist to troubleshoot machine or quality issues. This will require periodic weekend coverage duties
Run development trials to optimize operations on the paper machine and within the converting area.
Conduct training with paper machine and paper converting operators as required.
Interact and collaborate daily with Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operators and Lab personnel to implement changes and improve process performance.
Manage projects; including the purchase, install and startup of new process equipment, the enhancement of existing processes, and the development of new products.
Recommend new equipment or chemicals.
Follow all applicable Safety and Environmental requirements.
Bachelors degree in Paper Science, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and three to five years of experience in a manufacturing setting desired paper manufacturing would be a plus.
Effectively utilize computer-based applications including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in team-based activities.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to teach and train others.
Salary is negotiable, depending upon experience presented. to $100K plus 10% bonus opportunity. Relocation covered.
