Position Title - Converting Manager - folding cartons

Location - Greater Boston area

Description -
Our client is one of the largest manufacturers of paperboard and paper-based packaging for some of the world's most recognized brands of food, beverage, foodservice, household, personal care and pet care products. This plant is located in the greater Boston area and produces folding cartons. The plant has multiple sheet-fed lithographic offset formats to fit all carton sizes and run lengths printing up to eight colors plus coating. Client is looking for a Converting/Finishing Department Manager. Qualified candidates will have experience leading a printing operation. Position reports to the Plant Manager.

Job Functions:

• Effectively communicates with Production Supervisors and other departments to report on daily production, plans for future production, operational needs or issues, and schedule changes; partners effectively with scheduling department to ensure effective and optimal production to meet customer needs; leads effective and engaging shift meetings with team
• Proactively reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to evaluate performance and to determine causes of operating or production issues or nonconformity with product specifications
• Actively collaborate with Production Team to ensure seamless execution of customer requests on time and within budget.
• Works closely with equipment OEM, vendors and our maintenance team to drive optimal uptime along with machine predictability through a rigorous and thoughtful PM program.
• Drives innovation and continuous improvement across all shifts through seeking out current industry trends, product innovation and modern technologies
• Actively drives improvements to achieve unparalleled make ready times.
• Support continuous improvement, production efficiency efforts.
• Oversees inventory counts to maintain inventory of glues, tapes and other supplies, in conjunction with monitoring use of materials
• Identifies, documents, and drives departmental performance to meet metrics for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Waste and other KPI’s identified
• Establishes, communicates departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) through team members across all shifts ensuring understanding while equipping and empowering them with the tools and resources needed; establish clear accountability for the team’s work
• Manages staffing for all three shifts to ensure that the Finishing department is able to meet workload requirements and productivity standards;
• Manage administrative needs of the team including ensuring proper maintenance of equipment, maintaining licenses or certifications, and ordering supplies
• Manage overall administrative managerial duties such as, approving time and attendance, approving vacation requests, etc.
• Create clear expectations and accountability among all team members and to communicate, enforce and carry out necessary disciplinary action for any performance, attendance or code of conduct violation; identifies with and supports company leadership and company decisions and ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements -
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year College or University.
• Prior experience within the printing industry is required.
• Quality assurance/continuous improvement and industrial safety experience with the majority in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles.
• Six Sigma and LEAN training and experience preferred.
• Statistical and other data analysis skills.
• Good Communication and Interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Leadership skills with high integrity.

Compensation -
Salary is negotiable, depending upon experience presented, to $100K.
